The ecoregion extends through the Appalachian, Blue Ridge, and Great Smoky Mountains. It starts from a sliver of area in New York and extends southward through the following states: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina (a sliver), Georgia, and Alabama.
