Mediterranean type climates are relatively rare in the World – found for example in the Mediterranean (of course!), Chile, South Africa, and, in the ABA area, in California, where three ecoregions are delineated, belonging to the major habitat type of Mediterranean Scrub and Savanna. These are the ecoregions that begin with NA12.
